The Clinic at Santa Maria Valley Humane Society

Our Hours

The SMVHS has sterilized more than 33,000 animals in our affordable spay and neuter clinic since 1998. Procedures for healthy cats and dogs are available by appointment Tuesday through Saturday and are performed by fully licensed and experienced veterinarians. At the time of a spay/neuter procedure, low cost vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping can also be administered for an additional fee. Because we are a clinic and not a full service veterinarian hospital there may be restrictions on certain types of animals.

To better prepare for your visit please fillout the appropriate consent form prior to visiting Santa Maria Valley Humane Society:

Vaccination Criteria

  • The vaccination clinic is available on a first come first served basis during the hours listed at the top of this page.
  • This is a vaccination and microchip clinic only – no health exam or other services will be provided during this time.
  • All dogs over 4 months of age must be spayed or neutered and you must bring the certificate with you. We will not be able to accommodate any dog over 4 months old who does not provide proof of sterility. We will not examine the dog to “deem sterile”.
  • If the dog is not spayed/neutered we will offer to schedule the surgery. Vaccines can be done at the time of the scheduled surgery.
  • Santa Barbara County Animal Services requires all dogs within the county to be licensed. Licenses may be purchased here for $25.00/year – CREDIT CARD OR CHECKS ONLY, no cash please. Must show proof of sterility and current rabies in order to purchase the license.
  • Residents outside of Santa Barbara County should contact their county’s animal services office for license requirements.
  • Payment can be made by cash, debit or credit cards, or checks with proper ID.
