WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The number of animals that need our help is rapidly growing and we need your support. Many people are being forced to move and are desperate to find a safe place for their animals where they can be sure they will find a loving home. With the recent passage of Santa Barbara County’s Responsible Pet Ordinance, the demand for affordable spay neuter resources has skyrocketed. Donations to SMVHS help us provide these vital services to our community and extra funding will give us room to grow. There are so many animals that need us and we need you. Please consider a gift to help us meet the rising demands. Your donations are a true investment in the welfare of our community’s animals. Thank you for making a difference.

Did you know that SMVHS is not affiliated with, nor receives funding from the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA? Many people misunderstand and tell us they sent our donations to "headquarters." Please know that our only location is here in Santa Maria and donations sent elsewhere are not shared with us. We GREATLY appreciate your support!!

Remember, it takes so little to show you care.

VOLUNTEER AT OUR THRIFT SHOP AT THE NIPOMO SWAP MEET:

If you are thinking of another way of helping the animals, please consider volunteering at the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society's Thrift Shop located at the Nipomo Swap Meet.

Volunteers are needed to staff the Thrift Shop on either a Saturday or Sunday from 9am to 2pm.  No physical, heavy lifting is required, just a cherry smile and a willingness to promote the Humane Society.

Your presence at the Thrift Shop serves at least three purposes:

  • One, of course, is raising some much needed money to support and care for the animals at the shelter.
  • Second, is to help educate the public about the benefits of adopting an animal from the shelter.
  • Third, is to promote the benefits of spaying and neutering of all animals and informing the public about the Humane Society's super low prices for altering an animal.

Think of all you could accomplish in just five hours!  And have fun doing it!  Encourage another member to partner with you and double the pleasure.

The lines are open.  Call Judy at 805.929.4154 to schedule a time for mastering another opportunity to serve our beloved four-legged friends.
