Adoption Process

The SMVHS operates an adoption program for cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies.

Families or individuals who would like to add a pet to their household are encouraged to visit our shelter to see if a cat or dog staying with us will be a good match for their lifestyle and home. After at least one visit to the shelter, if you find there is a pet you would like to bring into your home, potential adopters can fill out an adoption application.  When all criteria are met, adopters can take their new cat or dog home with them that same day.

By choosing adoption, not only are you finding a loving companion, but you are also saving a life.


Get Started

1) Feel free to browse our available pets. Take note of the names of any pets you are interested in.

2) Fill out an adoption application. You can either download and print the adoption application, or fill out an online application (see below).
