The SMVHS operates an adoption program for cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies. Pet owners who must relinquish a pet because they can no longer care for it may apply to have their pet accepted into our adoption program. They will be asked to complete a relinquishment form, provide copies of all medical records if possible, and will be asked to make a donation to help us care for their pet. In return they will then be assured that we will provide excellent care for this pet until a suitable, permanent home is found for them.

Families or individuals who would like to add a pet to their household are encouraged to visit our shelter to see if a cat or dog staying with us will be a good match for their lifestyle and home. After at least one visit to the shelter, if you find there is a pet you would like to bring into your home, potential adopters are required to fill out an adoption application.

By choosing adoption, not only are you finding a loving companion, but you are also saving a life.

Please review our Adoption Information & Adoption Fees. You can view all of our adoptable animals by clicking on the Adopt-A-Pet tab at the top, and even submit an application online.
