Pet Food Pantry

Santa Maria Valley Humane Society’s Pet Food Pantry program provides free pet food to dogs and cats in low-income families in Santa Barbara County. One of the most common reasons for a pet owner to give up their companion is due to financial hardship.  Our Pet Food Pantry is part of our community Safety Net program to help struggling families keep beloved pets in their homes.

The Pet Food Pantry program is entirely supported through community donations. Food is available for up to four pets on a first-come, first-served basis until we run out. Food is distributed at our Edwin & Jeanne Woods Animal Care Complex, 1687 West Stowell Road, Santa Maria, California 93458 on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Pets in families requesting food must be spayed/neutered. Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer specific brands, formulas or flavors.

In order to receive pet food donations, please complete the downloadable enrollment form and bring it with you to the Pet Food Pantry during its operational hours.

Want to help? Donate food!

The Pet Food Pantry accepts donations of unopened, dry or wet dog and cat food. Donations can be dropped off at the animal shelter 1687 West Stowell Road, Santa Maria, California 93458, Wednesday through Sundays 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

At any given time, there are over 100 individuals or families in our community who are registered with us to receive donations of food for their pet(s) through the Pet Food Pantry program. This program is intended for people who are unemployed, on state or government assistance, disability, or just need some extra help. If the only issue in keeping pets in their families is assistance with pet food, we are able to help with that.

This program is 100% supported through donations of pet food provided by private individuals and local retailers and is subject to the availability of donated food. All brands of dry and canned dog and cat food are gratefully accepted. If you are able to donate a bag or a few cans of pet food, know that it will go to help someone in our very own community.
