Pet Cremation Services
We recognize that your pets are family and as with the loss of any loved one, you want to create a proper memorial. The Santa Barbara Humane Society offers pet cremation services at both locations.
There are generally two types of cremations available for pets: private and communal. In a communal cremation, your pet is cremated along with other animals and the ashes are scattered at a memorial garden or at sea. Because there are several animals, it’s not possible to get your pet’s ashes back.
In a private cremation, your pet is cremated alone so you are able to get the ashes back afterward.
Our Santa Barbara campus offers private cremation and our Santa Maria campus offers both private and communal. Regardless of your choice, you can be assured that your pet’s remains will be respectfully handled by caring, compassionate staff who appreciate the importance of honoring your pet.
If you select private cremation, please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.

Laying Your Pet to Rest
At our Santa Barbara Campus, we have a Columbarium that was built to remember the pets we love so dearly. You may inquire about placing your pet’s ashes in the Columbarium in perpetuity by calling 805-964-4777
