Refined Rover

Classes to encourage manners and safety for your family dog aged four months or older.

Imagine the staff at your veterinarian looking forward to a visit from your dog because he is an example of good behavior. This is the same dog you can stroll down the street and sit down with on an outdoor patio at a café, and he will rest beside you as you enjoy the sun. Most importantly, you no longer worry about him darting out the front door when you open it to retrieve your latest package.

In this five-week class, we will strive to provide basic skills to help you prevent common problems and train the behaviors you like. Learn skills that will enhance your relationship while setting both you and your dog up for a lifetime of success and desirable behavior.

Refined Rover participants can choose between classes:
Saturdays at 10:00 AM
Mondays at 7:00 PM

Reactive Rover

Classes to adjust maladaptive behavior in dogs.

You’re reading this because you need help. You may feel embarrassed by your dog’s behavior. Worse, you may be afraid of your dog’s reaction to new circumstances. We are here to help you lose that anxious feeling and identify ways to improve your dog’s behavior in the presence of triggers.

This class is designed for dogs who are reactive to other dogs, people, or objects while on leash. We will focus on reducing anxiety, building coping skills, and improving behavior when in the presence of these triggers. We understand owners can often struggle not realizing what may make matters worse, so we will also focus on increasing handler skills and confidence.

Important: The first class is an orientation. Please DO NOT bring your dog to the first class.

This a set of six classes. Please complete the registration form and we will contact you with the next available orientation date.

Reserved Rover

Classes for dogs that are shy and timid.

Your dog may be shy around new people. You know the humans who think every dog needs to be every dog’s best friend? Well, actually, that’s not the case at all! Dogs are not the same any more than people are! Your dog may be fearful around new people or just take a little longer to warm up. Sometimes it’s just a new situation that may be scary for your dog or a certain object like the vacuum that makes your pooch run away. If you have a shy or reserved pet, this class can help!

This four-week course provides tools to build your dog’s confidence while comforting and easing anxiety. You will feel better about understanding what your dog is feeling, and also what tools can help your pet relax and feel confident.

Currently, our Reserved Rover class is limited to five dogs per session and your pet will be in attendance at all sessions.

Reserved Rover will be held on Saturdays at 4:00 PM.

Please complete the registration form and we will contact you with the next available class start date.

One-on-One Training Classes

Get individualized, one-on-one training for your dog.

We offer individual half-hour or one-hour training sessions.  These classes are primarily aimed at dogs who have a specific issue you would like to work on but don’t necessarily need or want to come to the group classes.

Training issues may include barking, poor leash manners, jumping up, etc. Please note: we do not offer one-on-one training for severe aggression problems.

Please complete the registration form and a trainer will contact you to discuss your individual needs, class fees, and available days and times.

Therapy Dog Training Class

Do you have a friendly dog who just loves to meet new people and get snuggles? A dog who is social with other dogs and likes to learn things and visit new places? Our community could really use more certified therapy dogs.

In this class we will be learning dog training skills that will help you and your dog to pass a therapy dog evaluation. We will be learning skills from the Canine Good Citizen, (CGC), The Therapy Dogs International, (TDI), the Love on a Leash, (LOAL) and the Therapy Dogs of Santa Barbara evaluations.
